There is racial discrimination between whites and Black Americans since ages and this sets lots of presumptions and assumptions in the minds of people too. While talking about racism the talk is always about oppressions done on the black people. But the question arises, is there something called reverse racism prevalent in the country?
The concept of reverse racism is that systemic racism and racial inequality did for black people actually cause harm to whites. This is because the whites do not get access to the government and NGO programs that are enacted in support of black individuals. But reverse racism does not qualify for racial discrimination because they are currently the dominant group in the country. Reverse racism is an attempt to justify the abuse that has been done on black Americans since a long-standing history.
Rising of the concept of reverse racism:
This concept arose when there was an argument regarding admission programs for workplaces and schools that are ethnicity-based. When the protest for black Americans increased in the year 1961, many programs were launched to improve their lives and new policies were formed. Schools and offices were required to add to the number of black Americans that they admit. Sometimes quota was declared for black people in many places.
These policies are not meant for the white population or other ethnic communities and so they feel that these policies are discriminatory and unfair. This has given rise to the concept of reverse racism.
Is the concept of reverse racism real?
Groups such as affirmative action oppose this race-based quota system by saying that reverse racism is a method os discrimination that is unexpected for those that do not come under minority. The concept has been discussed and tested many times in court but it has not shown any clear results. There is no real evidence to prove the existence of reverse racism and still white Americans believe in it.
